Dear Professor Nicol,

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Kara Turner and I am an Assistant Producer for Men in Blazers, the US based media program about English football (soccer).

Men in Blazers are soon going to be working on a special podcast, concentrating on Scottish football, especially the stronghold of the \’Old Firm\’, the two Glasgow football teams Celtic and Rangers.

A former student of yours (and friend of mine) at Purdue remembers you giving a lecture about the \’Old Firm\’ in recent times, which he found very informative and interesting.

The staff bursar at Purdue passed on your e-mail address in order that I contact you directly, as time is of the essence with this project, below.

Our podcast team would be interested to meet you to discuss your impartial knowledge regarding the above topic, and be involved in our podcast, due to air mid April 2016.

The podcast team, including hosts Roger Bennett and Michael Davies, will be in Toronto on April 2nd to interview ex-Toronto FC and Scotland FC captain Steven Caldwell about Scottish football at BMO Field, and would like to invite you along to join in the discussion.

We will pay for first class travel and transfers for you and your family and arrange bed and breakfast accomodation at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel. We will also include a city centre excursion and a tour around the Toronto Rogers Center, which I will confirm closer to the time.

I appreciate this is short notice, but it would be a great chance to be included in this award winning podcast.

In the meantime, our research team will rush through some background checks to assess your suitability for the show, but I\’m sure they will be all in order.

Unfortunately I am traveling in Europe at the moment so it would be a challenge to get to Toronto by the 2nd. Thank you for your prompt response & your kind comments regarding the show.

Unfortunately, our researchers have found a number of images on various social media outlets that could be classed as showing bias & subsequent doubts to the impartiality required for the content of our podcast. I have attached them for your viewing.

I\’m sure you understand that we have to be seen as taking no sides, especially with such a sensitive topic such as the \’Old Firm\’.
