When you’ve had football like we had with Russia/Croatia, the passion, the emotion, the commitment, regular football may never be the same again

By comparison France: Belgium felt like a preseason friendly. The stadium was maybe only 3/4 full and apart from the highly entertaining Bleus behind the goal, remarkably quiet.
In part, likely because half the crowd were neutrals (see last post), more interested in starting a wave than in the football.

I thought both teams looked tired. But Dave pointed out that in fact tactically they had neutralized each other. Hazard vs Mbappe; Debruyne vs Kante. Stalemate. It could easily have gone either way. We had front row seats to two amazing Laurice saves which otherwise would have turned the game in Belgium’s favour. As it was it fell to one French set piece and they held out for the win.

Incredibly priviliged to attend a World Cup semi final in a amazing venue. Even if the crowd control crew forced us to endure a circuitous mile long march to and from the metro station. But, after the exertions of Russia: Croatia in Sochi, football may never be the same again
